Department of Civil Engineering organized a Guest Lecture on “Sequential batch reactor (SBR) in Aerobic Treatment” on 10-03-2020. The speaker is Mr. Adarsh Sridharan, Manager, Smart Water Management of Green Environment,Chennai.
Third year Civil Engineering students (III-C Sec) went on an industrial visit to “Madurantakam Lake”(Canal and Irrigation Structure) on 13.03.2020 .
The Department of Civil Engineering in association with the Institution of Engineers(I) and Indian Society for Technical Education organized five days online Faculty Development Programme (FDP) “Foundation Engineering, Fluid Mechanics and Structural Design for Civil Engineers” during 11.05.2020 to 15.05.2020. Around 70 participants attended the online Faculty Development Programme from various Institutions all over India.

LECTURE
The Department of Civil Engineering in association with IEI & ISTE conducted an International Guest Lecture on “Challenges Faced by Civil Engineers in Construction Field” on 25.9.2020 at 7.00 P.M to 8.30 P.M through online. Around 70 participants were participated for this guest lecture. The Guest speaker is an 2016 batch alumni Mr.T.H.PRAVEEN KUMAR, Project Engineer, Abdul Khaliq Building Contracting LLC, Sharajah, UAE. He elaborated about rebar detailing and estimation of various structural components like Beams, Slabs and Roof panels which are adopted in the construction of the building with detailed sample site photographs. And also, he explained about site rules to be followed both in India and Gulf Countries.

Prominent Alumni of our Civil Engineering Department 2015 Batch, Mr. N. Syedul
Mubarak, Project Controller, SNC Lavalin, Canada. He has explained about the
areas of Construction & Project Management, Flow of labour, Material and
Management, Risk Management ,Day to day activities at site and highlighted the
Current Applications of Project Management and which of the areas are being
improved constantly. He also focused on the skill sets need to develop Finally
he concluded with the leadership qualities and importance of Software and
Engineering Knowledge.

The Department of Civil Engineering in association with Institution of Engineers(IEI) and Indian Society for Technical Education(ISTE) organized a Guest Lecture on “Role Of Civil Engineering In Military Services”on 08.10.2020 at 7.00 P.M.to 8.00 P.M. Around 100 participants including external members were participated for this online guest lecture through Microsoft teams. The guest speaker is Prominent Alumni of our Civil Engineering Department 2014 Batch, Lieutenant RAGU.P, Indian Army . He shared his Service Experience in Indian Army also explained about the role of Civil Engineers responsibility in Indian Armed force and also clearly explained the job opportunities in Indian Army , benefits , how to apply and eligible criteria for Civil Engineering .Finally he concluded with how to clear the SSB interview. The students interacted and they got idea about the scope in Military Services.
